When I was three years old I witnessed poltergeist phenomena. After the death of a family friend our apartment became unaccountably cold, and smelled of funeral flowers. I watched a sugar bowl fly off of a kitchen counter without any apparent explanation.
When I was teenager I witnessed a large quantity of water suddenly fall from a ceiling that afterward was perfectly dry to the touch. There were no pipes in the ceiling, no one lived above us, and there had not been any rain for days. The event was never repeated.
In my twenties I experienced the inexplicable multiplication of objects at my workplace. Materials carefully counted and sufficient only for a day’s work seemed to multiply overnight into a quantity large enough to several days. There was no one who could have replaced the objects overnight without my knowledge. The day the materials ran out was the day the shipment arrived to replace them.
Perhaps my perceptions have been mistaken, but I think the world can be an uncomfortably strange place.
I suspect we may not be able ever to fully comprehend why .
